Our story

Over the years, our community has grown beyond what we ever imagined. Today, more than 200 children and young people from all backgrounds attend our classes each week to learn the Qurʾan and strengthen their understanding of Islam.

It is a blessing to see our classes full — but it has also made clear that we have outgrown our space. With over forty students who have memorised the Qurʾan, two hundred students currently learning, and a growing need for dedicated facilities for our sisters and youth, our current premises are no longer sufficient.

"This is more than bricks and mortar. It is an investment in our future and our Ākhirah — strengthening families, supporting our sisters, and guiding our youth."

A space for our sisters

There is a real need for a dedicated space where our sisters can pray comfortably, learn, connect and grow. Many sisters are seeking opportunities for Islamic learning, personal development and wellbeing in a space designed with them in mind. Our new centre will provide that — a welcoming and uplifting environment where women feel valued and supported.

A home for our youth

Our youth need more than just a classroom. They need a safe space where they can gather, build confidence, access mentoring, take part in activities and develop life skills — all within an Islamic environment that nurtures their identity and faith.

What the centre will include

  • 01Expanded prayer facilities. Larger dedicated halls for men and women with proper wuḍū facilities.
  • 02Dedicated space for women. A welcoming environment where sisters can pray, learn, connect and grow.
  • 03Youth activities & mentoring. Programmes that build confidence, life skills and Islamic identity.
  • 04Gym & wellbeing area. Physical and mental wellbeing facilities for the whole community.
  • 05Janāzah & Ghusl facilities. Proper Islamic funeral preparation — a vital community need.
  • 06Classes, workshops & skills. Expanding our successful educational programmes.
  • 07A true community hub. A welcoming centre for all — serving Cardiff for generations.

Alhamdulillah, acquiring the building on the corner of De Burgh Place and Neville Street was a major milestone. Now we need to renovate it and bring it to life. Every contribution — large or small — is ṣadaqah jāriyah, a continuous charity that rewards you long after you are gone.

Who we are

Uthman Mosque (also known as Masjid Uthman) is the data controller for any personal information collected through this website. You can reach us at:

Uthman Mosque

Riverside, Cardiff CF11 6LS
United Kingdom

What we collect

We only collect what you choose to send us through the contact form on this site:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number (optional)
  • The subject and content of your message

That's the only personal data this website collects. We do not run analytics, set tracking cookies, or fingerprint visitors.

Why we collect it

Solely so we can read your enquiry and reply to it. We do not use your details for marketing, do not add you to any mailing list, and do not share or sell your information to anyone.

The lawful bases under UK GDPR are consent (you actively chose to send us a message) and legitimate interest (responding to enquiries about the mosque's activities).

How long we keep it

Messages and the contact details attached to them are kept only for as long as is reasonably necessary to handle your enquiry — typically up to 24 months — after which they are deleted. Where there is an ongoing relationship (for example, ongoing class enrolment, nikāḥ proceedings, or pastoral support), we will keep the relevant correspondence for as long as that relationship continues.
